Let Us Amaze You With Amtico Bathroom Flooring – A Handy Guide

When it comes to choosing flooring for your bathroom – or any room of your house for that matter – Amtico flooring is a good choice thanks to its durability and looks.

But it’s often not the first name on most people’s lips these days, thanks to the popularity of vinyl and ceramic flooring.

At My Beautiful Bathroom we’re wondering why not…

So What Exactly Is Amtico Flooring?

Amtico is a type of high-quality vinyl which comes in the form of tiles. A bit like laminate flooring, an Amtico tile has a back of compressed materials with a printed film (design) and a clear non-porous and hard-wearing layer on top.

The top layer contains urethane coating which makes it extremely durable. The tiles can be embossed with a specific motif, made to look like wood, stone, marble or glass and even come in metallic shades. It’s produced in England (Coventry) and America (Georgia).

Benefits Of Amtico Flooring In Your Bathroom

  • Less expensive than ‘the real thing’
  • Easy to install
  • A very durable and hard-wearing material
  • Has a very long 25-year (and 100 per cent replacement) guarantee – provided your flooring was fitted by an
  • Amtico approved supplier in the first place

  • Possible to create your own one-off, individual bathroom design
  • Can be fitted with a border to add individuality and style

Is Amtico Flooring Suitable For All Rooms In My House?

The tiles can withstand extreme variations in temperature which makes it suitable even for kitchens as well as the living room and hall – provided it is fitted with Amtico HT Adhesive in the first place.

It can also be used in sun rooms and conservatories as long as it is overlaid with 6mm flooring grade plywood.

Amtico can even be found in rooms with under floor heating (provided temperatures don’t reach higher than 27 degrees Celsius). The material is unique to floors and should not be used on either walls or ceilings. The tiles won’t stain in the normal course of things but certain substances such as lipstick, floor wax and solvent can prove tricky.

Constant contact with a latex rug backing, rubber matting and rubber coated cables could also leave a mark.

Tips To Get The Best From Amtico Bathroom Flooring

  • Felt pads should be added to the bottom of any chairs, stools or standing cabinets to prevent floor scratching
  • Black scuff marks can be removed using a cloth with Amtico cleaner.
  • A nylon scouring pad on your kitchen floor is also effective.
  • Vacuum or sweep the floor with a soft brush to remove dirt.
  • Mop once a week.
  • If you have a dog make sure his or her claws are regularly clipped as these could certainly scratch the flooring
