A Clever Bathroom Design In Glasgow Creates More Space For The McCourt’s
When My Beautiful Bathroom team turned up at the McCourt’s home in Glasgow to give them a new bathroom it involved completely redesigning the entire space in order to create enough room for a large walk-in shower.
Mr & Mrs McCourt had lived for some time with an ill-fitting bathroom suite which did not allow them to make as much use of the space as they could have. Their old bathroom, for instance, resulted in a lot of unused space which could be better served as an area for the bowl, and even allowing enough room for the shower (which would not have been possible in the old suite due to a lack of space).
The redesigned bespoke bathroom the couple ended up with (much to their delight) also included a unique and specially-designed custom-built mirror with co-ordinating feature tiled borders on the walls, giving it a far more modern look.
A modern bathroom suite with modern high gloss furniture was selected and because it was made-to-measure, the furniture fitted in perfectly to the deep recessed area to the right of the bathroom. This had previously been ‘dead space’ and is now being fully utilised to allow the McCourt’s to get as much use from the entirety of their bathroom as possible.
Because the new bathroom furniture was ‘tucked away’ this gave the room a sense of being ‘neater’ and more functional. A feature radiator in silver chrome and enhanced ceiling area provided more glamour to the bathroom which was now much more in line with current trends.
Pipes and plumbing work beside the toilet was designed to allow for a neater look – in keeping with the rest of the bathroom furniture, including a neat and rather shiny laminate worktop.
Handles for the furniture were chrome and trendily T-bar shaped. To bring the colour scheme for the room up-to-date, the existing large pink tiles were removed and replaced with smooth white tiles with a feature black glass border, near the top of the wall and a similar border around the bottom to take away from the plainness of the white tile.
Tiling for the floor was in black but with silver glitter to give the room a more glamorous Hollywood feel.
All lighting for the room was in the recessed style and pointed downwards, providing a ‘spa-like’ atmosphere (as did the white tiling).
