New Bathroom For Mr And Mrs Dorran

New Bathroom For Mr And Mrs Dorran

The bathroom was just the start of bringing a 1950’s furnished house in Jordanhill, Glasgow into the 21st century…

Jacquie and Chris Dorran from knew they weren’t making life easy for themselves when they moved into their new home in Glasgow’s Jordanhill area.

That’s because the property hadn’t been updated for more than half a century. As a result it needed completely rewired, the old staircase wanted replacing and 12 rooms of anaglypta wallpaper had to be stripped right back to allow the walls to regain their original state for re-papering.

So, who did they call for this mammoth task?

Well they didn’t hesitate to bring My Beautiful Bathroom out to take a look and get their advice.

The couple had already hired My Beautiful Bathroom the previous year to design a new Kitchen in their previous home in Jordan hill (and indeed the reason they managed to sell it so quickly was because of the kitchen).

So, when it all came down to it, it was a bit of a no-brainer really.

The above all had to be done but the crème-de-la-crème of the rebuilding work was a new bathroom that the couple were desperate to have fitted. The old bathroom came out and the new suite they opted for a modern bathroom in white gloss.

The plumbing in the room was concealed with some smart free standing white gloss furniture. Long square bar handles gave the suite an up-to-date look while the walls were tiled in light grey porcelain with an attractive and contrasting dark grey/glass mosaic border – again, another modern touch.

So far so good… the couple were big shower fans so had a large cross head shower head fitted. The shower itself was a Thermostic chrome version. This tallied nicely with the tall feature chrome towel rail and, together with the installation of chrome sockets for the shaver points, the room had a very ‘finished’ look.

The recessed downlights emphasised the modern theme.

The My Beautiful Bathroom accredited installation teams completed all the plumbing work – which involved putting in a Worchester boiler and radiators throughout the entire house (and not just a radiator in the bathroom) as well as a full central heating system.

Once the fitting teams had stripped the old wallpaper of the walls – and worse still, the ceilings – it was a case of re-plastering to ensure a smooth finish for new wallpaper or paint. The aforementioned staircase was replaced with oak while new shelves were created in alcoves. And, as if that wasn’t enough, a new fireplace was built and the windows in the entire house were replaced.

Despite the lengthy work carried out on the house, it’s not the last time My Beautiful Bathroom and the team expect to be back in the south Glasgow property.
Once the couple have an extension built in what is currently the kitchen of their new home, they fully intend to replace the entire kitchen cabinetry and give it the works.
Meanwhile, so delighted with the work that has already been done on both their new home and the old abode, Jacquie and Chris have recommended My Beautiful Bathroom Installations to their family, friends and work colleagues.
So, we’d bet there’s every chance they’re going to run in to them again in the very near future… Remember if you are interested in a new bathroom or kitchen then why not give us a call on 0141 771 3640.
