The Perfect Bathroom Floor Tiles
The Perfect Bathroom Floor Tiles
You may not give much thought to floor tiles when it comes to remodelling your bathroom, as most of your attention will be focused on appliances, layout and colour schemes. However, here at My Beautiful Bathroom, we think floor tiles have the power to make or break your bathroom interior, and depending on whether you want a modern, traditional, rustic, or unique bathroom look, floor tiles can make all the difference.
Traditional Bathroom Floor Tiles
Traditional bathroom tiles are usually seen as white squares, usually without a pattern or much colour. However, even if you want your bathroom to have the traditional feel, you can still have a little fun with the bathroom floor by incorporating stylish patterned tiles or marble effect tiles for a subtle yet distinctive look. Opt for large format tiles if you have a lot of space to work with, but if not then small tiles are much safer as you are unlikely to need to cut them. Add some points of interest by opting for a diamond pattern or adding a border in a different shade or shape to draw the eye to certain points of focus in the room, such as using patterned tile or marble effect tiles for an elegant touch. A colour or pattern that either directly compliments or contrasts with a feature wall is another stylish option.
Modern Bathroom Tiles
Gone are the days of only a boring beige range of options. You can have a lot of fun with modern bathroom tiling. Whether you opt for unusual colours or shapes, the only limit is your imagination (and perhaps your budget). Divide up the space you have with different colours and textures at different parts of the room. Porcelain floor tiles may be your option of choice, or maybe stone effect tiles are a better fit with your design. Opt for non-slip tiles by the bath and shower, contrasting beautifully with a glossy finish in the centre of the room. LED lights can also have a big impact on your bathroom floor if you want a contemporary look. Consider spotlighting around the sides or at corners of the room for a modern finish (see main picture).
Unique Pattern Bathroom Tiles
A sunny day in Tuscany, perfect for admiring the marble and stone effect in the local architecture. A seaside villa in Crete. You can recreate it all in your own unique bathroom, perhaps using bathroom wall tiles with a wood effect for a cosy, inviting ambiance. Choose terracotta floor tiles for your own taste of the continent, and opt for colourful stone tiles around the border. A beautiful mosaic in the centre of your bathroom floor can look incredible and will draw the colours of the room together. Use tiny shards or larger tiles to bring it together and make your bathroom really special and unique. You don’t even need to stick to white for the grout! Whatever you decide, your bathroom tiles should be at the forefront of your plan rather than included as an afterthought.
Many people choose their bathroom tiles last to save on expense and make do with linoleum until they have the money and the time they need to finish their bathroom completely. However, at My Beautiful Bathroom, we think that your bathroom floor tiles deserve to be at the very heart of your design due to the huge impact they have on the overall finish. Think carefully about the look you want to achieve, and then choose your bathroom floor tiles at the same time as everything else to ensure a cohesive and seamless bathroom style.
