Traditional Bathrooms
While the craze for bathrooms might well be to modernise everything and make it as minimal as possible, there are still those who yearn for a more homely, traditional space. Somewhere they can be truly comfortable. And somewhere truly traditional and warming is great at this chilly time of year!
If this is you, don’t worry you’re not alone.
It’s still very popular and, funnily enough, a lot of bathroom furniture that was the height of fashion 30 years ago is actually coming back around and adding kitsch value to the houses they’re in.
There’s a lot to be said for finding reclaimed bathroom suites and doing them up. The risk, of course,is that you get something that’s not made for modern use. But fret nott.
There are plenty of new bathroom suites that give you the look and feel of the older ones, but with the peace of mind that they’ll last you much longer.
We’ve got a great selection of wooden bathroom furniture, which is spot on for that traditional look. Whether you’re going for something light and airy or dark and rich, we’ve got it covered. For that genuine traditional feel, trying staying away from harsher finishes like metals and mirrored look accessories.
If you do want metallic touches, stick with brass, bronze or copper – the really earthy looks. They’ll match the wood far better and they tend to be cheaper.
Wooden Bathroom Furniture Try working with floral patterns as well, both big and small. It might be a little chintzy, but it’s something that older bathrooms are rarely without. Everything from feature tiles, curtains and blinds, or even actually flowers in the room. It’s a small detail, but if you’re after something authentic, it can make all the difference.
Of course, just because you’re going for an older look, doesn’t mean you’ve got to shun all technology. There are plenty of feature radiators that look the part and still give you heat. And, there’s nothing to stop you investing in underfloor heating, too. We’ve got a whole blog on underfloor heating options, so why not have a read and see if there’s something you want.
